Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to join the visitor experience team at Ormesby Hall as an Events Assistant. You'll assist in the delivery and development of a programme of activities and events, such as Easter, Halloween and Christmas.

Internally, this role is known as a Programming Assistant.

Salary: £13.25 per hour

Contract Duration: Fixed term contract until 31st December 2026

Hours/working pattern: The hours advertised for this role is reflective of 12 months, however the actual hours you’ll be required to work for this role are 1000. The amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in equal instalments over the term of your contract.  You'll work up to 5 days a week during school holidays. Where possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we're looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit business needs. This role involves weekend and some evening work.

Reporting to the Senior Visitor Experience Officer, you'll work within an immediate team of four at Ormesby Hall and also with other departments, such as the Collections & House and Outdoors team. This role is based at the property, so there is no remote working possible.


Working with the team, you'll create and deliver events and activities that bring our place to life for our visitors all year round. You'll be responsible in the setting up and packing down of activities, including the Easter trail and summer of play equipment. You'll also support in the planning and decorating of Ormesby Hall at Halloween and Christmas and deliver activities during the school holidays and support with the bigger weekend events, such as Love Local.

Understanding how and why we engage our supporters is key. You’ll help link everything we do back to our cause and the ongoing work we do. You’ll deliver high standards of presentation on site and ensure all our communications with our visitors around the property are clear and consistent.
