Job Description

***INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY***

Being a Visitor Experience Officer for the National Trust is all about people – connecting with them, inspiring them, and making sure they have the best possible day when they come to visit.

Interviews: week commencing 15th September
You’ll be part of the portfolio Duty Management team and you will work weekends on a rota basis. You'll be responsible on the day for the smooth running of the property during opening hours, acting as the main contact point for staff, volunteers, and customers in case of emergency, enquiry or complaint.
Shifts will typically be 9am-5pm with occasional evenings. Working pattern will be flexible, including regular weekends.

You’ll be reporting to the Visitor Operations & Experience Manager, working as part of a fun and collaborative portfolio team covering sites in Worcestershire, including Greyfriars House and Garden and Hanbury Hall. Greyfriars is a late medieval merchant's house in Worcester city centre and Hanbury Hall is a country retreat built for the Vernon family at the turn of the 18th century - very different sites with a wealth of brilliant stories to share.

As Visitor Experience Officer, your main focus will be on providing a great experience for visitors. Alongside a fantastic team of staff and volunteers, you’ll be welcoming people and inspiring them to really get to know these Worcestershire sites. This might include devising and running events and activities, and creating interpretive displays and other ways of bringing the place, and its stories, to life for everyone who comes here. You'll encourage visitors to take a closer look at artworks or precious objects cared for by the Trust.

You might be supervising and supporting volunteers and organising rotas. You’re likely to be checking standards of presentation on site, or helping to write for our web pages.

We'd love to hear from you if you’re:

  • used to multiple deadlines and managing your own workload
  • skilled in organisation and planning, with a good eye for detail
  • good at talking to, and getting on with, all kinds of people
  • a hard-working and committed team player
  • comfortable with IT: Microsoft Office, as well as web and social media
