Please note the advertised salary is inclusive of a £10,000k reviewable market supplement. Your base salary will be £50,000 and you will receive the market supplement as an allowance on top, taking the total pay to £60,000.

Internally this role is known as Senior Web Operations Engineer. 

We work collaboratively across the Trust to deliver high-impact digital solutions at pace, always keeping the needs of our people and supporters at the centre of what we do. Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

Behind everything our supporters see online, from our public websites to our mobile application, is the robust Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure managed by the Digital Web Operations team.

Driven by a passion for automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), resiliency, and security, the team is responsible for deploying, managing, and optimising servers, databases, services, and applications across environments ranging from development to production.

We take a holistic view of how our systems interconnect, tackling a wide range of challenges with a diverse set of tools and approaches. Our success is built on a culture of curiosity, problem-solving, openness, and pride in what we deliver.

We work closely with internal teams across the Trust and our external support partners to ensure our platforms are reliable, scalable, and aligned with organisational needs. These collaborative relationships are essential to delivering high-quality digital services and driving continuous improvement.

  • Proven experience in IT Operations, with a strong background in both Website Operations and DevOps practices.
  • Deep technical knowledge of modern web application stacks, cloud infrastructure (AWS), service integration, and orchestration.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL processes, including change, incident, and problem management, alongside good awareness of information security and threat mitigation.
  • Hands-on expertise in scripting, automation, and system administration, including Linux servers, databases, application deployment, and monitoring tools.
  • Demonstrated to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams, with experience in delivering infrastructure and software solutions, and supporting operational excellence.
