Finance Support Assistant x 5
The contract is full time and permanent, and the annual salary is £30,966. The employer, National Trust, is a charity. The position requires some traveling to sites across the geography mentioned in the description, but you will spend some time at Heelis, Wiltshire, which is an office so you may not necessarily be in a heritage setting.

We’re looking for five Finance Support Assistants who can support the Finance Business Partner team in delivering financial support and insight across operations and project delivery. You’ll offer a reliable support service to the Finance Business Partner team, providing guidance and training to non-finance colleagues, assisting in maintaining accurate reporting and forecasting, working with and challenging stakeholders.
We're open to full and part-time applications. Please let us know if you're looking for a full or part-time role when applying.
Reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner and working closely with Finance Business Partners, you'll be part of one of five teams covering a specific geographical area, directorate, national and/or strategy theme.
You’ll enjoy an extraordinary diversity of work, amazingly knowledgeable committed colleagues, fascinating places, a great support network and a sensible work life balance, all the while shaping the future of the UK’s biggest private landowner, and the places and spaces it owns and protects.
The role location is hybrid with a base location at your nearest hub, however, we are happy to consider alternatives. There is an expectation that you will attend the office, and you'll be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week, however there is flexibility on where this is. This will be discussed in more detail at interview. The role will involve occasional travel to meet with the finance team and to support properties and projects.
You’ll provide key support on forecasting and reporting. Working closely with stakeholders, you'll ensure that forecasts are accurate and provide support to ensure that information is up to date on the finance system. You’ll support with finance training and with reporting systems and processes, enabling budget holders to access the tools they need to manage their budgets. You’ll be working with the Financial Service Centre to ensure consistency of advice to colleagues across the organisation.
You’ll be using our reporting system National Trust Analytics (NTA), finance system (Unit 4) and other operational systems to review, monitor spend and variances to budget and proactively engage with teams to ensure financial information is accurate and appropriate paperwork in place.
You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what is possible in this role.
We'd love to hear from you, if this sounds like you:
- confident working with numbers and excel spreadsheets
- strong communication and interpersonal skills to support a wide range of stakeholders and skillsets
- able to maintain data, systems and processes with strong attention to detail
- an understanding and awareness of the importance of governance processes
- able to gather, analyse and interpret management information to support decision making
- comfortable using IT packages, and happy to learn and explore new technology and systems and share knowledge with others
- able to work as part of a team to achieve the best results, demonstrating best practice plus sharing ideas and thinking
- good time management and prioritisation skills
