We’re looking for someone with a love of history and an eye for detail, who’s friendly and open with people. This role is about looking after an historic collection whilst engaging visitors with the Castle Drogo story and helping to make every visitor’s day memorable and enjoyable.

Salary: £10,335 pro rata (FTE equivalent £25,837.50)

Contract: Permanent

Hours/ working pattern: Part-time, averaging 2 days per week. . The role includes regular weekend working, school holidays and bank holidays to support with some of the busiest times of the year.

Castle Drogo stands high above the ancient woodlands of the Teign Gorge. Inspired by the rugged Dartmoor tors that surround it, the castle was designed and built by renowned 20th-century architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. Each year, Castle Drogo welcomes over 120,000 visitors and we have an exciting programme of seasonal trails, tours, events, changing displays and exhibitions. You’ll join the Visitor Experience team and work closely alongside the Collection & House team in a varied and busy visitor-facing environment.

As a Service Team Member at Castle Drogo, you’ll be supporting with the day-to-day care of the collection through preventative conservation and ensuring the castle is kept to a high standard of presentation. You’ll also be welcoming visitors to the castle, answering questions and sharing information about the stories of Castle Drogo and the work that happens to look after this special place.
