If so, you could become a Collections and House Officer at The Children's Country House at Sudbury Hall, bringing to life the history and significance of this much-loved place.

Salary: £27,612 per annum

Contract Duration: Permanent

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Working Pattern: You'll work 1 in 3 weekends.

Sudbury Hall is a stunning example of 17th century craftsmanship, and the country home of the Lord's Vernon and their families from the 1600s to the 1960s. Since 2022, the property has undergone a transformation to become The Children's Country House, providing a unique and immersive experience for children and adults alike, highlighting beautiful plasterwork & historic collection crafted by Grinling Gibbons, Thomas Gainsborough and John Michael Wright.

The Museum of Childhood is a delight for all ages with something for everyone. It looks after treasures dating all the way back to Ancient Egypt and right up to the present day, all of which help tell the story of childhood through time. This role also plays a significant part in looking after The Old Manor at Norbury, a small medieval manor house set along the beautiful landscape of the River Dove.

As the Collections and House Officer, you'll be responsible for routine & preventive conservation, as well as the annual programme of deep cleaning. Your attention and expertise will help to ensure excellent standards of care throughout the Hall, whilst contributing to long-term conservation plans and projects. You will have an understanding & awareness of the practicalities of collections management and how to approach accreditation priorities.

This role will also play a part in encouraging an audience-led approach to conservation, enabling vital access to our historic collection and stories through displays & exhibitions.

You will be managed by the Collections & House Manager, working alongside another Collections & House Officer and 3 Collections Assistants. Additionally, you will oversee a cohort of House Experience Volunteers, be responsible for daily operations.
