Job Description

***INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY PLEASE***

We’re looking for a People Relations Adviser to join our National People Relations team, supporting colleagues across the organisation by ensuring people policies, guidance and processes are accurate, accessible and easy to understand. You’ll play an important part in helping our people feel supported, confident and well-informed, while ensuring compliance with employment and volunteering legislation. Working collaboratively, you’ll help deliver a high-quality people service that reflects our commitment to inclusion, transparency and continuous improvement.

You’ll be part of the People Relations directorate, working closely with knowledgeable and supportive colleagues who collaborate nationally to deliver consistent, people-centred advice and guidance. The team acts as a trusted partner to the People Service Centre and the wider organisation, balancing detail-focused work with opportunities to contribute to projects and service improvements. The environment is varied and fast-paced, with a strong emphasis on shared learning, professional curiosity and respectful collaboration. Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

You’ll help maintain and develop people policies, guidance and documentation, ensuring content remains accurate, up to date and accessible on internal systems. You’ll research employment and volunteering legislation, monitor emerging trends and use data and feedback to inform improvements. Working with colleagues across the People Relations function, you’ll provide non‑complex advice and guidance to internal customers, supporting confident and compliant decision‑making. You’ll also contribute to tribunal preparation work, supporting key services such as occupational health, and taking part in projects that enhance service delivery. Alongside this, you’ll promote data security and GDPR compliance, ensure diversity and inclusion is embedded in all materials and advice, and build effective working relationships with internal teams, unions and external service providers.
